Brazil 2 Australia 0

In the lead up to this game I was confident Australia would get a result, and took a lot of pleasure in telling people that they would.

I was nearly right.

If Brazil hadn't scored two goals they would've.

I thought Australia deserved something out of the game and a 2-0 result was flattering for the Brazilians. Australia certainly held their own for the first 45 and looked very comfortable. Ronaldo looked poor, Ronaldinho couldn't seem to get into the game and Australia did look good on the break. It's just a shame they couldn't put away the chances they had.

So all they need to do now is draw with Croatia to go through. It should be a cracking game, with Croatia needing to win to take Australia's place in the last 16.

I'm glad I'm not stood in the cold though, trying to make my way home from Circular Quay.

By the way, who the hell is Fred?

And, thought you might like this one from Wrighty talking about the African teams.....

..." the African teams have done really well to qualify especially Togo, Angola and Saudi Arabia"

Harry Kewell's first touch - pure comedy. He really is rubbish.

Australia really should have started with Luke Wiltshire, might have actually made a few chances other than long-shots.

Thanks for the comments Matt - Geography clearting isn't his strong point. And Mike will be glad Big Ron is back, but I'm not sure if he can get that channel in Singapore.

Andy - yeah, not for the first time Kewells (not so) cultured left-foot let him down.

Big Ron on UK Gold? Where else?!

I thought the Aussies deserved a draw. Why is Kewell so bad when he used to be so good?
