Germany 4 Costa Rica 2

1 down, 63 to go.

After all the talking it's finally good to get the tournament underway. The minutes silence was a bit of shocker though. It was so loud during it that I wasn't even sure it had started. Good one.

Still it was a funny game to watch. The defending was shocking and seeing Wanchope nonchalantly put the ball past the miserable Lehmann was class. Twice.

If we end up playing Germany in the next round then I look forward to Rooney inflicting some serious damage on The Hun's defence.

Apparently Lineker said "Wanchope became Twochope". Brilliant. How I wish I had heard that. I already miss the BBC coverage (and broadcasting restrictions mean I can't even listen to 5 Live, live, on the internet). Martin Tyler doesn't come out with anything like that.

Now I have an hour to kill until the next game.....and it's 4am here.

You have Martin Tyler? You should think yourself lucky.

Well he could do with a co-commentator. I'd rather have Motto.

Listening to the same bloke going on and on can get a bit tiresome. I think he even gets bored of the sound of his own voice.
