Some Sydney Panoramas
Andy is the Panorama King (although he had a bit of a howler recently - didn't he?).
He has inspired me to use the Stitch mode on my camera.
Here's my attempts. What d'ya think? I don't think they are too bad for a novice like myself.
Sydney Harbour, from The Opera House.
Sydney Harbour, from The Royal Botanical Gardens.
Sydney Harbour, from Mrs Macquarie's Chair.
The Opera House, Circular Quay and The Rocks.
Bondi Beach.
Bondi Beach, from North Bondi.
The Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Pylon Lookout, looking East.
The Pylon Lookout, looking South.
The Pylon Lookout, looking West.
The Pylon Lookout, looking North.

They look pretty good Jonny - very impressive!
Yes, not sure what happened to Andy's recent haphazard attempt...perhaps alcohol played a part?

Great bloggin Jonny - i can hardly keep up - but i guess thats what happens when you dont have a f***** job !!!
Hope your gonna do one about the dolphins and steak extravaganza on sunday

Thanks Rich. There are a couple of dodgy bits in a some of the pictures but apart from that, I'm pretty happy with them.
Yeah, I reckon alcohol must've played a part, although he did say it was a difficult shot to take. I thought the crowd shots at Ashton Court would have been harder, and they seem pretty perfect to me (here and here). How difficult can it be to photograph boats, that aren't moving? ;-)
Will - you are right, I do have rather too much time on my hands, but I am hoping this will change soon. I'm glad you have finally caught up. I don't think I'll do a blog about Sunday (I didn't have my camera you see), but for those of you who are reading this and are interested, Will and I were surfing on Sunday when a pod of dolphins swam by, which was amazing to see. We ate steak afterwards.

I suppose at least you did not eat dolphin afterwards

Look, I might have been drunk, but that's not the point - I left it uncropped so you could see more of the overall picture. Each of the five photos were framed perfectly, they just weren't quite in a line. I did realise half way through taking them, that it really needed two rows of photos to do it properly, but I couldn't be arsed - I wish I hadn't published it at all now!
The Ashton Court ones aren't without errors - i.e., the same guy in red shirt and white trousers appears twice in the first one, and then there's a guy sat on the floor at the front of the 2nd one with half a torso missing.
Yours are great though, very enjoyable, especially the Pylon lookout ones, and the Cricket ground, oh and Bondi beach from North Bondi. Good work!

Thanks Andy. Can't say I noticed the errors in the Ashton Court ones but I haven't looked at them that closely yet, but I will now.
I'm glad you published the picture though. It's been a lively debate.
It sounds like you like most of my panoramas though - the ones of Manly were taken from my balcony (as if you didn't already know).

I have just had a look at the Ashton Court panoramas and have seen the errors, but given the difficulty of capturing a moving crowd I think you have done rather well there.
I think there will be some "Spot the error in the panorama" blogs to follow at some point down the line. It could almost be as successful as Spot the Ball and the not-so-successful Where’s Mike and H?

Yes, well I fear that a 'spot the panorama mistake' blog may be less successful than the two of them combined.
So, it's been a lively debate? What, about how drunk I was?
And yes, I guessed that the last Bondi shots were taken from your balcony, but thanks for reminding us...

Bondi?
I think you must be getting a bit confused Andy, like Mike who recently published two pictures of Manly when trying to compare the two different beaches (here and here). At least your excuse is that you haven't been to either.....yet.
On the other hand, I think you are just winding me up ;-)
Well, it may not have been that lively, but at least we have managed to spin this out over a couple of days. How drunk were you by the way?
At 2/8/06 11:37 AM, Andy said…
No no, not a wind up. Just more confusion. Thanks for clearing it up though. I always thought they were bad comparison shots anyway, as the second one might as well have been taken in Croyde.
And yes, I was bladdered, but like I said that's not the point...

Seems like there's lots of panorama paranoia going on here.
