The Orbit Bar

29th December 2006

We made the mission into the city after the walk and went to the revolving Orbit Bar, which sits 47 floors above Sydney. It has the best views in Sydney but the worst service (allegedly!). I have been up there four time and every time is a shocker. Maybe it's the fact that the place revolves which confuses the staff (allegedly!), or maybe it's the fact that they are bone-idle (allegedly!). But once you have a seat, and a drink (champagne, obviously), it is the perfect place to sit back, moan about the service, and enjoy the view. H and I were in the Orbit Bar in 2005, admiring the view, when we decided to make Sydney our home. From memory, the service is much better in the Summit Restaurant. Obviously the first picture doesn't do the view justice, but none ever do.

Some fast-paced blogging going on here Jonny, good skills!

I'm afraid that top picture is nothing more than a few dots of light, although you can just about make out the bridge on the full-screen. Have you tried using longer shutter speeds?!

I have, but the bar revolves so then the picture just looks blurred.

I guess I should go up the Orbit Bar in the daytime.

As for the blogs, the sooner I catch up, the better!

It's a troublesome bar to shoot photos from and no mistake.

You're doing a good job, Jonny, but I fear that the next few days could prove more tricky to report. Sifting through over 300 photos of one day is going to be a challenge...
